For the Rolls:
- 3 cups 375g all-purpose flour
- 1 packet 2¼ tsp instant yeast
- 1 tbsp granulated sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 cup 240ml warm milk
- ¼ cup 60g unsalted butter, melted
- 1 large egg
For the Garlic Butter Topping:
- ½ cup 115g unsalted butter, softened
- 4 garlic cloves minced (or 1 tsp garlic powder)
- 2 tbsp fresh parsley finely chopped
- ¼ cup 25g grated Parmesan cheese
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
Prepare the Dough:
In a large bowl, whisk together flour, yeast, sugar, and salt.
In a separate bowl, mix warm milk, melted butter, and egg.
Gradually pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients, stirring until a soft dough forms.
Knead the Dough:
Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
Place in a greased bowl, cover with a damp towel, and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
Shape the Rolls:
Punch down the dough and divide it into 12 equal pieces.
Roll each piece into a smooth ball and place in a greased 9x13-inch baking dish.
Cover and let rise again for 30 minutes while preheating the oven to 375°F (190°C).
Make the Garlic Butter Topping:
While the rolls rise, mix softened butter, minced garlic, parsley, Parmesan, salt, and pepper in a small bowl.
Bake & Brush with Garlic Butter:
For best flavor, use fresh garlic (though garlic powder works in a pinch)
Don't over-knead the dough - just until smooth and elastic
Let the dough rise in a warm spot (like near a preheating oven) for best results
Brush with extra butter right after baking for maximum flavor
Make ahead: Prepare the dough the night before and refrigerate for slow-rise overnight rolls
