Ingredients

For the Rolls:

  • 3 cups 375g all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet 2¼ tsp instant yeast
  • 1 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 cup 240ml warm milk
  • ¼ cup 60g unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg

For the Garlic Butter Topping:

  • ½ cup 115g unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 garlic cloves minced (or 1 tsp garlic powder)
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley finely chopped
  • ¼ cup 25g grated Parmesan cheese
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper

Instructions

Prepare the Dough:

  • In a large bowl, whisk together flour, yeast, sugar, and salt.
  • In a separate bowl, mix warm milk, melted butter, and egg.
  • Gradually pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients, stirring until a soft dough forms.

Knead the Dough:

  • Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  • Place in a greased bowl, cover with a damp towel, and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.

Shape the Rolls:

  • Punch down the dough and divide it into 12 equal pieces.
  • Roll each piece into a smooth ball and place in a greased 9x13-inch baking dish.
  • Cover and let rise again for 30 minutes while preheating the oven to 375°F (190°C).

Make the Garlic Butter Topping:

  • While the rolls rise, mix softened butter, minced garlic, parsley, Parmesan, salt, and pepper in a small bowl.

Bake & Brush with Garlic Butter:

  • Bake rolls for 18-20 minutes until golden brown.
  • Immediately brush the warm rolls generously with garlic butter. Serve hot!

Notes

For best flavor, use fresh garlic (though garlic powder works in a pinch)
Don't over-knead the dough - just until smooth and elastic
Let the dough rise in a warm spot (like near a preheating oven) for best results
Brush with extra butter right after baking for maximum flavor
Make ahead: Prepare the dough the night before and refrigerate for slow-rise overnight rolls
